Estobar NRW (IFS)

Harris Park Warmbloods has signed a contract of sale with International Horse Breeders (IHB) for frozen semen from the premium licensed Westfalen stallion Estobar NRW (IFS) (Ehrentusch/Ferragamo/Florestan I). Estobar NRW was the licensing champion in 2006 in Münster-Handorf, Germany. He completed his 70 Day Stallion Performance Test (HLP) in Adelheidsdorf, Germany, in 2009, placing sixth overall with 119.95 points (6/31). His dressage index was 154.74 points (1/31) and his jumping index was 70.97 (27/31).

Scolari (IFS)

This breeding season we have made multiple attempts at using Scolari (IFS) (Sandro Hit/De Niro/Weltmeyer) frozen semen with our Hanoverian mare Kinnrody Winona. Although the semen quality is good, Winona has had severe endometrial sloughing which has prevented the embryo from being able to attach itself to the wall of her uterus. Due to her hypersensitivity with frozen semen we are unsure as to whether or not we will be limited with our future breeding options, being restricted to fresh and chilled semen only.

Ruby

This week two of our leased recipients mares have arrived safely at Harris Park Warmbloods. The Standardbred mare Rhonda is carrying our Riverside (Imp) x Kinnordy Winona (ET) foal and the Thoroughbred mare Ruby is carrying our Quando-Quando (Imp) x Revelwood Highlite (Imp) (ET) foal. I would like to thank Higgins Thoroughbred Transport and Darling Downs Horse Transport for delivering both mares safely.

Quando-Quando (Imp)

To date Harris Park Warmbloods have three 45 day PPT this breeding season. D'Dur (Imp) x Harris Park Salienta, Riverside (Imp) x Kinnordy Winona (ET) and Quando-Quando (Imp) x Revelwood Highlite (Imp) (ET). Our thanks go to Dr David Pascoe and Sonya Plant of Oakey Veterinary Hospital and Amanda and David Shoobridge of Revelwood Warmblood Stud. We have had issues with our Scolari (IFS) x Kinnordy Winona breeding but we remain hopeful for a 45 day PPT sometime late January.

She has been lunged, long reined and led from another horse and has a visit to the chiropractor on Friday. Fidertanz was the star at the 14th NRW main approval in 2004. He left the scene with standing ovations as the undisputed Champion Stallion. Three exceptional gaits, foresight and skill at the fence and an exterior that leaves nothing to be desired left no doubt that he was the justified winner.

Premier's Flood Relief AppealHarris Park Warmbloods is coping moderately with the current Queensland floods. Due to our horses constantly standing in mud, we have had several cases of rain scald, mud fever and swollen legs. We cannot complain though as some of our fellow Queenslanders are doing it extremely tough. The Queensland Government has launched an appeal to help fellow Queenslanders affected by the recent floods as many communities have been devastated. You can help make a difference by donating to the Premier's Flood Relief Appeal.

2010

Harris Park RépertoireThe stitches have been removed from Harry's eye, so his eye is open and you can see the pedicle graft on the cornea where the abscess was. This will remain intact (vascular supply) permanently. The veterinarians have finished administering drugs via the subpalpebral lavage tube and are now administering creams directly in the eye. Pending his progress, tomorrow the tube will be removed and he will be monitored. Hopefully he will come home on Friday afternoon. He will not have sight where the pedicle graft is located but given the position it is probably the best location it could be given the circumstances and shouldn't effect his overall vision too much.

Harris Park RépertoireHarris Park Répertoire (aka Harry) had an aggressive corneal stromal abscess. He was operated on yesterday as his cornea had started melting. The abscess has now been cut out and part of his eyelid has been grafted over (pedicle graft) where the abscess was. He has two stitches holding his eyelid closed while the graft is embedding and is receiving drugs via a subpalpebral lavage tube every two hours. His eye will remain closed for ten to fourteen days and then the stitches will be removed (if all goes well). Time will tell how he goes...
